The new support sniper Ana is now officially playable in Overwatch

Ana Overwatch

Last week, after months of speculation and guesswork, Blizzard finally put us out of our misery. As suspected, the first new hero coming to Overwatch was indeed Ana Amari (who as it turns out, is not Sombra).

Following her official announcement, the support sniper was made playable in the game’s PTR for balancing purposes. It seems everything was in order, because she’s now been patched into the main client with the shooter’s latest update.

Ana abilities

Abilities

Biotic Rifle

Ana’s rifle shoots darts that can restore health to her allies or deal ongoing damage to her enemies. She can use the rifle’s scope to zoom in on targets and make highly accurate shots.

Sleep Dart (shift)

Ana fires a dart from her sidearm, rendering an enemy unconscious (though any damage will rouse them).

Biotic Grenade (e)

Ana tosses a biotic bomb that deals damage to enemies and heals allies in a small area of effect. Affected allies briefly receive increased healing from all sources, while enemies caught in the blast cannot be healed for a few moments.

Nano Boost (q)

After Ana hits one of her allies with a combat boost, they temporarily move faster, deal more damage, and take less damage from enemies’ attacks.

Ana ultimate

Ana is quite a tricky hero to play. What I haven’t been able to figure out just yet is how exactly she fits into a team.

When I played a few games last night for example, I couldn’t decide what was more important; healing allies, or dealing damage to enemies. Ideally, I should’ve done both (believe me I tried), but in the heat of battle, it was rather difficult to decide what was more important, and what would yield the best results.

That being said, Ana is a ton of fun to play. Over the coming weeks, she’ll find her place in Overwatch, or rather, I’ll just figure what role she fits best (I should learn how to aim too).

Ana isn’t all that shipped with the latest Overwatch update. There were buffs to certain heroes too, as well as a very important change to competitive play (only one hero is allowed per team now). You can read all those changes in detail right here.

And the changes that allows one type of hero per team? Getting hit by sleep darts six times is gonna suck

The turrets at least takes a while to upgrade to level 2. Six molten cores are the worst

Competitive only – and I thought they’d already implemented that?

meh… last few days I’ve been sitting between 190 & 290 ping. Makes the game unplayable for me. Hits don’t register, ultimates fail (specially with junkrat). Getting pulled through walls by Roadhog, falling out of the sky with Pharha…
