It was bound to happen sooner or later, so why not now? A sneaky Game Stop employee has uploaded a photo of a store inventory update, which shows the supposed price and release date for Sony’s new powerhouse handheld, the NGP.
The price, if it is true, is very appealing. The date, however, is highly unlikely leading many to think that this is merely a Game Stop placeholder for now. People have, however, pointed out that Game Stop’s pricing placeholder is ordinarily set to $999.99 and the NGP’s supposed price is (fortunately) way less than that.
As you can see in the picture, the NGP could go on sale for $299.99, which is about R2Â 100. The release date of 01 January 2012 is not likely seeing as that’s a public holiday, it being New Year’s Day and all.
Sony has already stated that the price of the NGP will be purposefully enticing for consumers, which $299 certainly is. IF that’s the price the yanks can expect to pay, then it’s likely that we could see a local price of around the R3Â 000.00 mark, possibly just less.
For now, however, slap a big, sparkly “Rumour†tag on this.
