Ninja Gaiden 3 will reboot the franchise

A lot of series are getting reboots. Medal of Honor just took a reboot, Prince of Persia had one a while ago, and the latest Castlevania is certainly… different to its predecessors. Now it sounds like Ninja Gaiden is getting the “ah to hell with it, let’s throw everything out and start again” treatment.

Team Ninja’s Yousuke Hayashi has dropped hints on what people can expect from the next Ninja Gaiden game. Pointing towards a picture of Ryu (after the jump) he highlighted certain elements that contain hints of what the reboot will entail. It’s very vague at the moment, but speculating is always fun – fact!

According to Hayashi, “Ryu seems to be doing something with [his] right hand. Also, there’s something not normal about this hand. It’s covered in blood, but there’s something unnatural regarding the blood.”

He went on to say that Team Ninja is developing the game with “the idea of restarting at the beginning” The reason? They point towards a desire to “make the action game that’s most interesting for the current era. With this meaning, it’s going to be a game that’s not bound by the past more than necessary.”

Any thoughts on the picture of Ryu in light of all the talk of franchise reboots? Let us now in the comments.
