Nintendo 3DS

In a fact round up for the 3DS IGN has posted up an interesting statement that it has apparently received from several un-named developers.

“Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.”

If that statement is in fact correct it will mean the graphically inferior DS is about to leap above the PSP in a huge way and bring with it the ability to play 3D games and have motion control.

If all these rumours are true I worry that they have spent to much time trying to play catch up to the PSP and have forgotten what makes the DS so awesome in the first place.

We will find out all the details in a little over a week though so stay tuned for that.

What a silly statement. I highly doubt it will get anywhere close to the HD consoles – I’ll say it’s on par with the unreleased iPhone 4 Gen (which will be announced today I’m guessing)… I think what they might mean is that the abilities which console have will be similar to the 3DS but not the actual power. Like certain anti-aliasing technologies will be available – which is pretty obvious when you upgrade any hardware!

    HD Graphics!?!?!?
“close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360”?

    LOL

I love the DS but that’s just a joke.

Graphics was never a strong point of the DS.
Its crappy graphics one could say gave it character.

I guess when you’re playing games on that small of a screen and aged 13 and below graphics aren’t that important.

It says nothing about the graphics.. just the processing power.
