Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red are the darling developers for gamers. They make deep, immersive games and make the anti-DRM crowd satisfied with their policies regarding IP and ownership. Plus they are involved with GoG.com and make us happy in so many other ways. Of course, they promised to also make all the sci-fi fans giddy with Cyberpunk 2077, but you won’t be hearing about that for a while.

Speaking to Gamespot, the developer’s head of marketing and PR Michal Platkow-Gilewski stated that “The first rule of Cyberpunk 2077 is that we don’t talk about Cyberpunk 2077”.

On a more serious note, in short, communication-wise, we are now focusing entirely on The Witcher: Wild Hunt. Everyone is working crazy hard to give gamers around the world an RPG to remember. Worry not, Cyberpunk 2077 is OK, its time will come.

Cyberpunk 2077 was announced in October 2012 and is being developed by a separate team of people within CD Projekt Red. We don’t know which platforms the game is coming to, or when we can expect to see more about it.

It makes sense that the studio is focusing on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – that game is massive and highly anticipated. Once it is out in the, um, wild, they can focus on promoting their new IP. Plus, if The Witcher 3 is everything we’re hoping it is, players will gobble up any other title from the developers, even if it’s a dark futuristic game about advanced technologies that are the salvation and curse of humanity. Geez that sounds awesome, but I suppose we’ll just have to be patient and continue to drool over the Witcher first before worrying about Cyberpunk 2077.

I dare no such thing! I just saw DRM in the text, and the next minute, I was speculating as to whether he was going to ;P

I want The Witcher 3 to sell well, so that they have money to create something good with Cyberpunk 2077. Fuck the Witcher. Bring on Cyberpunk 2077 already.

Think of how hyped people are for The witcher 3. Now The Witcher 3 is not even close to the hype for Cyberpunk 2077. That trailer did something crazy.

We need to support The Witcher 3 in-order to get Cyberpunk 2077.

Long term thinker right here. Most people are just Ermahgerd Witcher 3 yus whooo, but what about the things that come after it. Those games need a budget too, a budget witcher 3 will feed to the game.

Honestly, I’m actually really excited for the Witcher 3 to be released… so that it will be out of the way and we can get back to learning more about Cyberpunk 2077. I’m *really* excited for that game, and tremendously interested in how the team will choose to develop it.

Agreed. Witcher will be awesome, but I really need an awesome Cyberpunk game rather than a “more of the same” fantasy RPG.

It’s one of those games when you finish it you think to yourself that it can’t get much better than this. A timeless classic.

No. It was suppose to be released this year. So now that Witcher 3 has been delayed twice and released mid year 2015. Cyberpunk 2077 ether 2016 or 2017. Delayed twice, 2018. When it’s ready.

A bit off topic. In regards to GOG and DRM in general. Say a game is digital and you download it. It’s on your comp. What happens when it gets taken off GOG or steam and you had to reformat or get a new comp. Does that mean yiu can’t download the game again?

Yes, but I haven’t heard of any non-EA/Ubisoft games being taken off Steam or GOG.

You can download it again if it’s in your gog or steam library, neither of them remove it from there as far as I know. Fallout isn’t available for purchase on GOG any more but it’s still in my library & I can dl it.

You know what, since I’m expecting multiple endings I’ll be disappointed if they don’t include a Fallout Nuclear War ending. Bonus points if it’s a hidden ending.

Very excited for Wild Hunt, but as a lifelong fan of sci-fi and dystopian themes, I really REALLY cant wait to hear more concrete details about Cyberpunk 2077. Eventhough Witcher 3 is coming out this year, I’m more excited for Cyberpunk 2077. Cant wait to drown in next-gen neon lit streets.
