Hatred

Hatred, the game everybody loves to hate because of its controversially gratuitous violence is set for release this weekend on Steam, Desura and not GoG. Those who’ve pre-ordered the game were meant to be able to play it already. Developer Destructive Creations promised those who pre-ordered would get early access to the game. They lied.

“It appeared that it is technically impossible for us to make Hatred available earlier for people who made pre-orders,” they said in an email to customers. “We screwed this thing up, because we didn’t check if it is possible before sending the official announcement.”

They’ve promised that affected customers will have this made up to them in the future.

“We promise to reward you this disappointment in the future – we still have your e-mails in our database. We are really sorry for giving you false hopes, we wanted to make you feel good, but as usual: shit happens.”

They have, however, asserted that it’s not a fault with the game itself – rather with their distribution platforms.

“But don’t worry, it’s not the problem with the game itself. Everything is finished and waiting for the official release. Today we’re dispatching keys for press, so you may see first reviews and reactions on weekend.”

Funnily enough, the first review for the game is live, courtesy of the chaps at Destructoid. According to them, Hatred is – as you’d expect – a bit pants.

“There’s nothing really special about Hatred. It’s a twin-stick shooter,” they say, giving it 5.5. “It has guns in it. It has objectives. Most of the time those objectives involve acting like a menace to society or blowing stuff up. It doesn’t have anything new to bring to the table, or anything interesting to say about the genre. You can go back to yelling at it now if you want.”
