While we are following up about the lack of Arcade and DLC content on our newly supported Xbox Live marketplace I also asked why there aren’t any Indie Games listed.
Unfortunately the answer is simply that the Indie Game channel is not supported in South Africa and Xbox are currently investigating bringing these to the country. It also looks like the rest of the new additions to Xbox Live are also not being granted access to the Indie Game channel.
Which put simply means that Microsoft will not offer indie developers the chance to sell their wares to South African, Greek, Polish, Russian, Brazilian, Chilean, Colombian, Czech or Hungarian gamers at the moment.
This is the same line that was used when we queried our lack of Xbox Live 4 years ago so don’t hold your breath.
It seems that even though Microsoft have agreed to move the Indie Channel back to it’s original spot they are still not being given the chance to truly market their titles to the full global audience.

I’m definitely not migrating! My buddy migrated this morning, and he’s been telling me on gtalk, that he can’t access his videos, he hasn’t received his “promised” microsoft points (what was it 800 or 1600MS points), and the record of his downloads over the last 5 years has been wiped clean.

If you read on XBox.com they actually warn you that by migrating you will lose your download history, so they recommend that you back it up. I MS didn’t show that warning when you do it via the XBox… which wouldn’t surprise me in the least?

I don’t know, I’ll ask him, but I doubt he would have not read the fine print, but yeah, 5 years worth of dlc poof… There’s something quite poetically sad about it.

It’s not fine print. It’s being plastered around everywhere wherever the migration process has been mentioned.
Also there was no definite date given when the free points would be handed out.

Semantics my dear Foxy, “fine print” in this regard refers to any text in a legal document or otherwise that’s supplementary or an unexpected addition to, but crucially not necessarily to the benefit of all.
And yes, the use of the colloquial phrase does in fact find it’s roots in the actual practice where additional requirements were added on in fine print that were generally advantageous to one party (i.e. the one who compiled the document).

I’m always a sceptic when it comes to things like this… check everything 200 times before I commit, which has been a advantage a lot (and disadvantage even more 🙁 … but I think I won this time).
