No more auto-fail in Assassin's Creed Unity

ACU window assassination

I love the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but I have some gripes. I mean, I don’t mind tailing a guy (it’s irritating, but understandable at times), but I hate getting completely de-synchronized when spotted. According to new details, the game is using new gen abilities to also enhance the AI.

Over on NeoGAF, a user named Deadly Cyclone posted some details revealed in the latest issue of Game Informer. According to the article, the game has been in development since 2010; after Brotherhood a team broke off and already started on Unity. Skill leveling is also a thing in Unity – do you tend to go full stealth or are you happiest when taking on an entire group of guards? In the new system you could make something akin to a tank, or a ninja, depending on how you level up your skills.

Co-op missions can also be done on your own – you don’t have to team up with friends to complete the game. However, they have different difficulties and it will obviously be easier to complete with friend.

Missions no longer auto-fail if you don’t follow a specific script. There will be changes and consequences for how you handle the missions, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be desynchronized. Speaking of being spotted, the new stealth mode lets you move quietly without sacrificing your speed, making it excellent for sneaking up on guards. With a new cover system that makes hiding easier and allows you to peak, it becomes even more appealing to go full stealth. Once alerted, guards no longer automatically know where you are – instead, they will search your last known location, making it easier to get away and even flank them.

NPC groups now react to each other. Thugs might attack you on sight, but guards won’t unless provoked. Of course, you can also lead thugs to police and see the hilarity that ensues.

As for the bits that I still like (although I think I’m the only one), they are starting a “new cycle” with the present day stuff. Apparently you will understand in the first 20 minutes of the game where they’re going with it, and it’s “cool” and “very, very surprising”.

Man, this game is shaping up and sounding rather cool. I’m excited to see what they show at Gamescom and if I end up more amped for Unity or Rogue.

…………………………………………… I don’t know about Ass Creed anymore, can’t get myself excited for either of the ones coming!!! And everyone is all like O yeah Rogue will finish the Kenway story so we need to play that…. Just remember how they finished off Desmond’s story…. Yes I thought so, that was the worst end to any story line ever!!! I love fiction books and that is probably why I love gaming as well, but the end to Desmond was terrible. A Minotaur could rather have run him over and he died of it than having to sacrifice himself to save the world….

That sounds cool, especially the greater stealth focus. It’s my preferred method of playing these, it’s more fun for me to try being stealthy than just killing everything that moves, like usual.
