There has been a ton of rumours around how well TitanFall will run on the Xbox One with the recent beta clocking in at well under 1080p. However many insiders have hinted that the final game will be in stunning 1080p clarity. They lied.
Yesterday a tweet went out from a TitanFall fan account stating

The twitter account calling itself TitanFall led to a lot of people believing this was an official announcement and that Respawn had been keeping this secret to blow us away on launch day.
However the big cheese over at Respawn, Vince Zampella, has squashed our hopes and dreams by tweeting out this not-at-all cryptic response when asked if the above tweet is true.

So that’s quite a solid answer and puts this rumour to end once and for all.
Now I won’t try and say that this isn’t a set back for Microsoft and their Xbox One which appears unable to reach 1080p for the vast majority of games.
However it doesn’t change my desire to have TitanFall in the slightest. The game is bucket loads of fun and while we will all have to wait and see if the game has the longevity of Call of Duty or Battlefield I can say for sure that the game is going to be worth the retail price.
That is unless you don’t like parkour, shooting with ridiculous guns, huge mechs and general high adrenalin excitement.

During beta I got about 200ms latency. Although not ideal, I was still able to play without issues.

I like to win, its what makes me happy. There is very little I find more frustrating than having me and my team constantly and frustratingly being crushed. I too can “hold me own” on European servers in FPS’s, but do I play worse than I do on SA servers? yes. Does it piss me off that someone that is worse than me kills me because of latency? Yes, to no end.

Ah well, if you only enjoy a game you’re winning then you best avoid Titanfall until it’s on a local server.
Still, maybe the net-code will have improved QoS despite the high lag. Maybe you should get a friend to do your guinea pig testing for you?
You see, I’m so bad at FPS – mostly due to be old, apparently blind and with the reactions of a sloth – that I get crushed regardless. My criteria is stability and choice – the latter of which is what is turning me off Titanfall. How difficult is it to implement a server browser in game?

Your comment reminds me about a game I played in Black Ops 2 the other day. Some how I ended up in a few matches with a UK host.
The connection was good because I didn’t know I was in a UK lobby but the lag was there. Could I play the way I normally played, no.
Did I win, yes. But it’s not nice to play like that with lag, being forced to play a certain way, when you know you could be playing so much better without lag.
They should sell this game where servers are available. I’m not interested in buying a whole game based around lag.

Lag is lag. Side stepping with lag in Call of Duty still wont make up for playing with lag.
Titanfall will have lag for South Africans. I never played the beta but I know how it will be. You even said so yourself.

Lol guys seriously it’s easy to own with 200ms I had no trouble enjoying Titanfall with high latency, I generally play call of duty with 200ms latecy so I guess I’m used to it, but people aren’t used to hifh latecy gaming welcome to the party. When I started playing cod4 online back in the day that time ping towards European servers were like 280ms-320 ms which took a lot of timing and focus to get kills .

lag is the resultant gameplay impact of network latency. Ping is only a rough measure of latency as it doesn’t use the same protocols and does no packet processing – just measures round trip time.
A second, equally important factor that impacts multiplayer is jitter which is variation in latency within a given connection.
You can improve the quality of service in a high latency network with good net-code that properly compresses and aggregates the packets sent and received.
So, simply stating a 200ms game is going to lag badly is wrong – there is a higher possibility of worse lag; but that is by no means a certainty. Also, it is impossible to eliminate “lag”. Even a fibre-optic cable is limited by the speed of light and so there is a ms or two delay just in the traversing of the data; and until we have instantaneous decrypting and processing of data packets there will always be latency issues.
What you meant to say was “won’t make up for playing with higher lag” and that can be combated by good coding. That’s not to say your concern is invalid – just not proved until the game lands and is played in said country on said connection to said server.
Note: I didn’t play the beta, and I am not planning on buying unless I get a great offer. So I have no vested interest either way.

I personally hate 1st person mode, I think it is lazy and was created to show the BETA build for sign off in the 90s. It required less memory and build. But it ran smoother. So they decided to keep it first person. Loosing all character personality.
