Not all future Microsoft games will support Play Anywhere after all

It wasn’t too long ago that we told you that according to Microsoft, all of the game’s published by the company would be part of the Play Anywhere program. That would mean that any MS game would end up on both the Xbox One and PC.

That would, in many ways, mean that there would be no more Xbox One exclusive games. It seems that won’t be the case after all. Microsoft’s statement on the matter seems to have been stealth edited to change the wording a little.

What once read as “every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere” – has now been changed to read “every new title published from Microsoft Studios that we showed onstage at E3 this year will support Xbox Play Anywhere.” The alterations were noticed by The Red Dragon and Videogamer’s David Scammel.

That means that you may not see inevitable games like Halo 6 hit the PC in the future, though it’s still possible (and indeed likely) that it will. I suppose Microsoft just doesn’t want to make promises it won’t be able to keep. A bit of expectation management, as it were – and another Xbox One 180.

Here once again though are the games that are currently confirmed to be a part of the Play Anywhere program.

  • Gears of War 4
  • Forza Horizon 3
  • ReCore
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Scalebound
  • Killer Instinct Season 3
  • State of Decay 2
  • Ark: Survival Evolved
  • Cuphead
  • We Happy Few
  • Crackdown 3

Oigh, next they’ll probably come out and say “The Xbox Scorpio will be a monster of a fluffy machine, which renders at 4k 1080p”

The saddest thing for me is that on that list above I only want to play Gears 4… Was interested in Recore that was shown last year at E3, but Recore shown this year looks like a bigger Knack to me! Also Cuphead is not my thing, before Hammer starts crucifying me again…
