Nowhere to run in Wolfenstein: The New Order

As bored as I am with first person shooters in general , I’m curiously keen for MachineGames’ new Wolfenstein. I think modern shooters have had their day, and perhaps its time to revisit that familiar territory – even if it is an alternate history. In The New Order, ze Nazis won ze war and it’s up to stalwart Wolfenstein hero William ‘B.J.’ Blazkowicz to shift the tides in favour of the allied uprising.

“1960. There is no more war. The Nazis control the globe and hope is lost.

But not for everyone. A resourceful team of resistance fighters, led by B.J. Blazkowicz, are fighting back against the Reich forces led by Colonel Deathshead. Learn more about their movement in this all-new gameplay trailer.

Wolfenstein: The New Order reignites the franchise widely recognized for pioneering the first-person shooter genre. Set in the 1960s, the monstrous Nazi regime has used mysterious advanced technology to win World War II. They now rule the globe with an iron fist. Wolfenstein: The New Order sends you across Europe on a harrowing mission to bring down the Nazi war machine.”

The game is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on May 20 – and those who pre-order the PC and new gen versions will get beta access to the new DOOM.  Here’s the new trailer, which sets up the story and shows us some gameplay. It looks rad.

I know, it’s like I am on the wrong site… Or in a parallel universe where the Nazis won, oh shit!

Alternative universe stories are kinda cool (but only when related to actual events, I’m not yet convinced about the Alt Uni of Star Trek…)

That’s rather insensitive man. When Vulcan was destroyed a lot of people died, good people, green-blooded people. That was a true event! *Blocks ears…

Look, it was good, but still, in Star Trek I never liked the AltUni episodes very much. I was super glad when all returned to “normal”

I can’t lie – I’m keen! So keen, I actually bought the “Wolfs pack” on Steam, which contains Wolfenstein 3D, Wolfenstein: Spear of Destiny and Return to Castle Wolfenstein… And man, it’s awesome going back to these classics. They really are, to this day, good, solid fps games. It’s getting me even more hyped for the new Wolfenstein. 🙂
