Nvidia Gameworks features coming to Evolve

Evolve is a fantastic idea on paper. In fact, it’s a fantastic idea in execution as well, but I’m struggling to see how the game is going to stay relevant over the next few months. Regardless of that, Evolve is still one extremely good looking game, especially if you’re running things on a beefy PC. If you’re on the green side of the fence as well, then it’s about to get a whole lot better soon.

Nvidia has revealed that a new update will add some basic Gameworks features to Turtle Rock’s online shooter. Right now the game works well in 4K, and already makes good use of Nvidia’s Dynamic Super Resolution functionality to scale down the game onto smaller monitors. You can also stream the game to your Nvidia Shield (if you have one), but more mainstream features are on their way.

A post on the Nvidia Gameworks blog confirmed that Gameworks specific features will make their way into the game soon.

We’ve been working with 2K and Turtle Rock Studios to make Evolve awesome on the PC. The game looks amazing with 4K graphics, works flawlessly with NVIDA DSR and can even be streamed to an NVIDIA SHIELD. We are working closely with Turtle Rock Studios to add GameWorks features to Evolve in the very near future. – See more at: http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2015/02/10/shooter-evolved-nvidia-furthers-2k-turtle-rock-studios-unique-take-shooter-genre/#sthash.n5zeFAd0.dpuf

There’s no word on what features will make the cut specifically, but I’d bank on things like TXAA and HBAO+. They’re hardly deal breakers if you find yourself in the odd position of making a graphics card decision over Evolve, but they’re still great to have. These features also appear in the majority of new releases, so there’s that to consider too.

But it’s mostly just good news for anyone currently hunting monsters on an Nvidia card already. If you feel that it could look marginally better, then it definitely will in a few weeks.
