NXE will come to arcade and core Xbox 360's

xble Microsoft revealed earlier this week that qualifying Core and Arcade owners can receive either a free Xbox 360 Memory Unit or Xbox 360 Hard Drive. Unfortunately this seems to only apply to Xbox 360 owners in the US and Europe. But fear not. Craig N, our very own Microsft MVP has just posted on his blog that Microsoft Xbox South Africa is working on a similar program for South African users.

This is great news for those who own Core and Arcade units and were looking forward to the New Xbox Experience. Also remember that the NXE will be available on game discs after release as well so there’s no need to have live in order to enjoy the goodness of avatars and the like.

So what you are telling me is that I spent R900 on my HDD while I could just have waited to get a free one in a few months?

    Doesn’t seem fair… does it?

The hard drive is not free, you have to pay a reduced price for it. The memory card is, however, free.

That would be nice wouldn’t it…

I never received that email though… I will hassle them but generally since we don’t have Live support here these offers don’t apply

Thats cool of them. But the HDD will probably Still cost more than its supposed to be if you compare with standard 20Gb 2.5″ drive.
