Origin is having a cheeky sale

Cheeky

Steam and its myriad sales and bundles is responsible for much of the content clogging up your backlog. Chances are, you’ll never got to playing all of those games, because you’re always buying new ones. Origin wants in on that backlog-stuffing action too, and has kicked off a new sale that takes a dig at the Steam games you don’t play – by offering ones it’s certain you will.

Honestly? It’s not the greatest list of games, but there are some great bargains to be had if you can stomach using Origin. You can pick up games like Starbreeze’s Syndicate FPS for a cool R59.98, or Dragon Age Origins or Mass Effect 2 for just less than R15. Yes, fifteen.

Other worthwhile specials include Bulletstorm, Dead Space 2 and Mirror’s Edge for R30, and Kingdoms of Amalur for R60.

If you need games to play on the cheap, check out Origin’s Player Appreciation specials here.

No BF4 though, it’s nice if you awake from a coma to turn on your PC and see all these specials.

R15 for Mass Effect sounds tempting. I just payed more for my coffee 10min ago. Now the ethical dilemma: Pay R15 to play on Origin or wait for a Steam sale…

Probably not. The problem is I need ME1 as well, which is not on sale and is R50. Dammit, let’s just do this and get it over with.

Cant get ME3 on steam either.
Id hate to play ME1 and 2 on steam, then have to switch over to origin for 3.
gotta keep them all in the same place.

I don’t think I want to know how many thousands of rands I’ve spent on coffee over the years – specifically bought from coffee shops and places like McDonalds. Come to think of it, if I’d opted to bring my own coffee to work each time I could’ve bought a killer desktop by now…

Hehe I can one-up you on that one I think. It reached a point at one coffee shop where I was helped before the people in front of me in the queue, even if there were 5 or more in front of me. At yet another shop the lady behind the register and myself started to communicate with hand signals from a distance to determine whether I wanted a small or large cappuccino that day 😛

if they added ME1 to the specials, you could get the franchise for under R100.
      that would be pretty badass.
its only R50 at standard, so you could still get them all for R125, which is still pretty crazy

It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what the world needed. They BFed Syndicate into a FPS. We want a proper strategy game. Brian Cox was a nice touch though.

It looks good, but its not worthy of the title of Syndicate. I’m not too concerned about it these days, since the gaming world learned a valuable lesson with XCom : there is such thing as a proper and successful reboot which enhances the gameplay of the original instead of completely changing it into something, ostensibly more exciting.

Yeah, you said it man. Look, as a FPS, its not bad. As a “Syndicate” successor, nope!

BUT, I’m just seeing it as an FPS with ties to the Syndicate lore, which I can dig

Absolutely agree! Whoever did the writing for Bad Company 1 deserves a Bells, and who ever allowed that person to slip through the net (or didn’t get them to work on Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4) deserves a roundhouse kick to the ear.
