Pachter : I may have been wrong about that Natal Price

Pachter

Michael Pachter, the analyst who’s increasingly getting pretty much everything – other than the bleedin’ obvious – wrong lately has retracted previous comments about Natal’s price.

In an interview with Industry Gamers, the professional guesser has admitted he may have been wrong about his assumed price for Microsoft’s controlerless wagglemachine.

"I probably aimed too low with my $50 Natal comment, as I’m sure that consumers will come to believe that the product and software has a lot of value. That means to me that Microsoft may try to price higher than I guessed on the Pach Attack segment," Pachter admitted "Regardless, if consumers think that Microsoft is providing a lot of value with Natal, it could be priced higher.

Asked what impact he thinks motion control will have on the gaming scene, he responded :

“I don’t see either expanding the GAMING audience, but do see them expanding the user base beyond the core gamer in the household. I do not expect the multi-user household to buy a significantly higher number of games, but think that once these other household members are introduced to the PS3 and 360, they may begin to enjoy the many features of each, and are more likely to justify movie downloads, joining Netflix, or whatever is planned in the future, as the consoles are more approachable with motion controls.”

Of course, given his track record of late, I’d say it’s fairly safe to take anything he says with a pinch of salt.

I hate oaks like this, and people who listen to them are just as stupid.

I dunno, I still think that a very low price point makes sense, as Microsoft will be the one losing out if everyone doesn’t but into the whole natal idea. $50 is very cheap though, so I could see it being higher, but I don’t see it costing over R1000, that would not be a good move from MS.

Maybe I am completely wrong, just going to have to wait and see

The gaming lemmings will buy Natal even if it is priced at R5000 unfortunately. Microsoft can pretty much do whatever they want , and the audience will cough up. Very sad.
