Pachter sounds the Vita’s death knell

Sony’s PlayStation Vita has been out for nearly two years already, and in that time it’s managed to gain close to zero momentum – and it doesn’t look that’s about to change anytime soon. The industry industry analyst everybody loves to hate Michael Pachter has now proclaimed it dead.

In the latest episode of Gametrailers’ Pach-Attack, Pachter – responding to the question of whether remote-play with the Ps4 might save the ailing handheld – isn’t particularly bullish about the handheld’s future.

I think if they made the PS Vita in different colors it wouldn’t sell more. The only thing that’s going to sell more Vitas is compelling software. God, I shudder to tell you how many units of Vita were sold this month, but the answer is ‘not very many’.

The Vita is dead, it’s over. It’s a really great device that nobody thinks they need so no one’s buying it – it is really slick, if you get one you will like it.

Is he right? Is the Vita dead, or will that promised remote-play and the prospect of a bundle save the thing? He is right about one thing; the Vita is indeed a slick device and you’d probably love it if you got one..until you ran out of games to play.

I’d much rather buy a Vita PS4 bundle than buy a PS4 and an extra remote. The $40 (or R 400) more for the Vita is a bargain. The Vita is far from dead. I love remote play on my WiiU and with all games supporting remote play on the PS4 (as far as is possible), I’m really excited for it.

Alright, that’s it, pack it up boys, Pachter said it! 😀

I love the Vita, man, I think it will come into its own very soon and then explode after the PS4 is released. Pachter is just a bit of a dick and I’m guessing it’s probably his bowels that will fail rather then the Vita.

It does work, but the developers must actually support it. Your trolling gets worse and worse each passing day. Go stand in the corner!

Developers can’t implement things that don’t work in the first place.

The price for the Vita hardware/software is too damn high, it’s almost PS3 levels.

Bring down the prices to a more reasonable level and I will gladly snap one up with a hand full of games!

its basically having a handheld ps3 so I cant blame them trying to sell it so high but I agree it needs a reasonable price

As a relatively new vita owner, if you subscribe to PS plus you wont really run out of games, or have to shell out top dollar for a particularly good game due to the free monthly offerings or even the discounts. granted this months offering is pretty weak, cause ive always wanted to play lego whatever it is, but i have about 10 games ive gotten from Plus that i have yet to finish. and of those, Unit 13, Gravity rush, Rayman and Uncharted are stellar games that make me feel that there is hope for the console. Another aspect of the vita that i adore is the access to ps one classics. playing games from my childhood like crash bandicoot and final fantasy 8/9, even abes odysee is really awesome. Battery life is pretty good and its standby mode lasts for weeks (studying so not playing much right now) Even the remote play feature on some of the current games works very well.

my only gripe with the vita to date… my hands cramp up something fierce when playing games using the analogue sticks and finding a proper grip for the console is a downright mission. launching a trip to the moon would probably be easier. short of that, im very happy with it
