Penny-Arcade Home

Penny Arcade may be one of the best comics on the Internet (next to Cyanide and Happiness) but as far as impartial gaming critics go I think they are pretty far down the list.

These are the guys with two Xbox 360 games remember… However that being said their complaints about Home are pretty much what everyone else is saying and if you like their writing click through at the bottom to read their review.

To sum up what the world is saying at the moment, Home is completely saturated with sex fiends, weirdo’s, creeps and freaks. But that is to be expected with any ‘life simulator’ so lets not harp on that.

What I really want to raise is the fact that you are honestly and seriously expected to queue to get your chance at bowling or some crappy arcade game. I am serious, you are expected to stand in line (while people fling insults and sexual innuendo your way) and wait in a virtual world for a virtual game that you can just play on your browser (embedded in your PS3) instead.

So far the local feedback for Home has been pathetic to say the least. The general feeling is that the first time people are in Home they spend the entire time downloading the rooms and then leave as they are done.

If someone has a review of how good Home is I would love to take a look and publish it if it has valid and defendable points.

Eish! They should have rather released it when it was ready. I guess XBL isn’t the only social network with idiots

I had absolutely the worst expectations of Home, but aside from the server-load issues that seem to prevent logging in during peak times, I am actually quite impressed.

There’s not a whole helluva lot to do at the moment, but the Pool and Bowling games are quite fun in their own right.

Character customization is good, but there is very limited clothing at the moment, short of buying new threads (which jsut seems like a waste of money to me).

Beta or not, this absolutely killed any hype there was for Home.

it’s still in beta phase (just like the hardware of the crapbox 360 only diff is home beta is more reliable). even only a few days in the beta its still ten times better than second life.

Probably a guy in a Pink afro following him everywhere in Home… he has to vent his frustration somewhere 😛

Dunno about home tho, the bit I tested the weekend was pretty meh. Maybe once all the crap is sorted out and the matchmaking stuff works Ill pay more attention.

Go read Robby’s other comments so far… he reminds me of those little 8 year old PS3 fanboys.. .the ones that don’t know half of whats going on but like voicing their opinions and making a lot of noise… and he only knows one of doing so.. and thats by making stupid statements and calling names…

There is hope for them though.. sometimes they develop into someone who actually knows something and can debate interlectually… but for now.. ignore him.

Home is really just a shell at the moment theres really not much to review, its true if you want to bowl or play pool or play and arcade game you wait, as for the resty well the exciting bits are no where to ber seen, the actual game enviroments etc are not there yet nor is the red bull area which youll probablt have to wait in line for anyway. The most severe problem with home however is that when creating a male manikin(for lack of a better term) theres no option to have beard! WTF no beards! thats a fail right there!
