Granted there aren’t many in that picture, which was taken by Aaron Greenberg of Microsoft, but that was yesterday. By now the madness could have increased exponentially, and hordes could be jostling with each other to be amongst the first 3000 into the store.
Why the first 3000? Well, that’s because Microsoft has all sorts of free loot for the first 3000 people to pick up the peripheral from a particular Toys R Us in time Square, New york. So perhaps those guys in the pic aren’t Kinect obsessed fans, but rather deal obsessed fans. What do they get for two days of standing in the cold?
Not enough to warrant forty-eight hours in the open as far as I’m concerned, but they’ll receive $150 worth of additional content. Kinect itself costs $150, but the first 3000 people to pick up the new peripheral will get a year’s subscription to Xbox Live Gold, Kinect Joy Ride and Kinect Sports.
Those aren’t lucky enough to be amongst the first 3000 insane keen people, will get other bits of Kinect themed swag and “commemorative itemsâ€.

HAHAHA those guys are not waiting to buy a Kinect, they are homeless people!
See the one guy has a cup to collect change!
Anyone stupid enough to buy a Kinect at launch is stupid enough to drop their wallet in his cup!

I have heard that amongst the homeless in NY, that the Kinect is the must have accessory for your cardboard box.

LOL! But they’re clearly just 6 unemployed homeless people sitting outside a store. In South Africa that’s just business as usual.

? since when did white males (grey top) become a minority in America?
Also your comment has no point apart from pointing out your own inner hatred.
They may be idiots though, 2 days for $150 bonus is a bit dumb

Kind of reminds me of the Star Wars movie qs. Imagine being one of those guys who practically camped outside of the cinema for a week, and when you finally saw Star Wars Episode 1… It was so incredibly bad…
I always wonder what happened to those guys.
