Persona 5’s Velvet Room will have you executing your Personas regularly

Persona 5's Velvet Room is pretty violent

The Velvet Room has been a staple in the Persona franchise since its inception, taking on different forms in each of the series’ separate tales. In Persona 4, the room, along with its ever-present tenant Igor, took on a luxurious skin – as the never stopping train cart provided an easy place to boost and create new Personas. It’s a little more morbid in the upcoming Persona 5 though, and you might feel a little uneasy taking regular trips to the place.

Gone is the train cart, instead replaced by a circular prison that Igor resides over. Here you’ll be able to pretty much do exactly that the Velvet Room has come to be known for, although the means through which that happens have changed. Creating new Personas (the magic tied to your character that determines your strengths, weaknesses and abilities) will now requiring you to execute the ones you want to fuse. As in, guillotine their heads off to fuse into a new, stronger Persona. Little dark don’t you think Igor?

The Velvet Room also seems to have a few new functions in Persona 5, all of which again revolve around the different ways you get to kill your current Personas. hanging them, for example, will sacrifice the power of one to transfer it to another. Killing them via electric chair will grant you useful pieces of equipment, while locking them down for a while will make them less prone to their weaknesses (which is rather useful).

But you’ll never escape the feeling of guilt the Velvet Room is imposing on you, as you lead your trusty Personas to the slaughterhouse as more challenging dungeons demand from you. Persona 5 is also all about Social Links, which will once again help you imbue power into your new Persona creations. Thankfully, you don’t need to be killing friends in order to make those possible.

Damn this games! I want it. Didn’t they say it might be a bit darker than the other Persona’s. Looks like they nailed it then.

Oh and the interior is actually a limo in Persona 4. Recently played it again.

Really? I’m currently playing it and I get high class luxury train cart vibes from it. But I started it so long ago I might be mistaken
