PES 16 to hit 1080p on Xbox One

Last year, there was a storm-inna-teacup bit of furore over Pro Evolution Soccer 15 running at a sub-optimal 720p on Microsoft’s Xbox One. It wouldn’t have been much of an issue, save for the fact that it ran at the full HD 1080p resolution on Sony’s console. With both running at a mostly stable 60fps, the game looked decidedly crisper and clearer on Sony’s machine.

The same could be said for that other game using Konami’s Fox Engine: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. That game, too, looked and ran better on the PlayStation 4.

Either Konami’s really gotten to grips with the engine and the Xbox One’s SDK, or DirectX 12 is making an impact already – because Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 will run at 1080p on the Xbox One.

Pro Evo community manager Adam Bhatti confirmed that the Xbox One version of the game will be running at 1080p on Twitter.

That’s just one of the mistakes the game is fixing. Bhatti has said that this time, they’re fixing mistakes, instead of making new ones.

“Maybe seven or eight years before PES 2015 came out, PES won nothing, in fact it lost everything. It went from being the football game that everyone played to the game that everyone forgot about.

Last year changed a lot, we had a really good show at Gamescom. Everyone gave us a chance. And then what happened [was] we started to win more and more awards. If you haven’t won anything in seven/eight years and then you go and win all but ten, you know you did the right thing.

And that’s really important for PES. Every year for those seven/eight years we were trying to change things massively, dramatically, because we knew that it was what people wanted. We keep making new mistakes rather than [just] fixing them.”

It’s ostensible that the same  sort of engine tweaking will help Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on Xbox One as well.

Conspiracy theory. PES 2015 and MGS V Ground Zeroes runs 720p on Xbox One compared to PS4. Hideo Kojima gets kicked out of Konami and now suddenly PES 2016 and MGS V Phantom Pain runs 1080p on Xbox One.
    Smells fishy……..

I thought the same thing, as Kojima previously stated his preference for the Sony machine. Fox Engine wasn’t built to fit Xbox One odd hardware architecture the first time around. Now they nailed it.

In the end, that only proves Xbox One is not that underpowered in comparison to PS4 or that PS4 is not that muscule powerhouse everyone thought.

    1360×1080 is not 1920×1080

And he didn’t specify if this is native 1080p. Fake journalists make *sses of themselves when they jump to conclusions and report missinformation.

Thanks for clarifying that since you are the developer and producer of the game you have the official word.

“Revolver Ocelot” is the one who uses the $10 UPVOTE BOT.

Any “Positive Sony comments” he switches it on to give around 5 auto votes for each comment, the Ghost names it generates include “Xrat” etc.

He also does the same thing on “Negative MS comments”.

            Very strange.

You may be wishing this to be true but in fact, all sports games released on both PS4 and Xbox One to date are native 1080p 60fps, except PES15 and some racing games that were in development for about 2+ years and probably are using old APIs that doesn’t benefit of performance enhacements as of recent SDK / API releases. Of course Xbox One is capable of doing native 1080p in such a relatively simple game in terms of simulation and graphics complexity. It does already in some inhose racing games that looks far more stunning than Fifa or PES. So it is unlikely the final resolution will be something like you said on Xbox One. If it is then, I might wonder they are missing something.
