PewDiePie goes mobile with his own game

PewDiePie

You either love or hate PewDiePie. If you’re the former, I’ve got some great news. If you’re the latter, best you prepare yourself, because you’re about to see even more of the YouTube sensation. He’s set to star in his own game, and it’s coming to a mobile device near you.

It’s called PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist. It’s a 2D platformer about… well, see for yourself (via Pocket Gamer):

As you’d imagine, Legend of Brofist encompasses all sorts of references and goodies relevant to PewDiePie himself. I myself know very little about the guy.

I admit I was curious about the sharks named Shannon that he is rescuing in the video above. I checked his wiki (what the… he has his own wiki?) and it turns out that Shannon refers to a tiger shark that he encountered during his playthrough of The Forest. This is one of many references the game will have, so if you’re a big fan, you’re likely be able to recognise many of them.

Other characters in the game include CutiePie (his partner) and their two pugs, Edgar and Maya. Several other YouTube stars will also make some cameo appearances.

It is being developed by Outermind, a Canadian studio that has been around since 2012. They’ve asked for fans to interact with them so they can make the game in the best way possible.Taking into account that PewDiePie has over 36 million subscribers on YouTube, I’m sure they are thrilled to be working on this title. Even a small percentage of that audience downloading their game will likely result in success.

At time of writing, I’m not sure what model the game will adopt – free-to-play or a once off purchase – or both. Either way, unless it’s completely free, it’s bound to rake in a fair amount of cash. Its release date is set for “this summer”, which should be in the next few months. Will you be downloading it?

  1. I’ll give it a shot. It looks good, so long as it isn’t too pricey. Hoping for a PC release.

Completely unrelated, I unashamedly got all of those references.

I wonder if that metaphor involving a bathtub of period blood will be present.

PewDiePie really is irritating. whining like a baby and screaming almost the entire time, I honestly don’t get why people like his material
