Eric Ruth Games, the fine folks who brought you pixellated 8-bit versions of Left 4 Dead and DJ Hero have created another modern retro title, this time demaking one of the most popular and influential console shooters in history – Halo.

Instead of the first-person perspective, you’ll get to play the game as an 8-bit side-scrolling platform shooter, with the delicious addition of isometric warthog driving bits. If you like your games in 16 colours with a decidedly old-school slant, download the game here. For those of you who just want to take a short gander at it for the sake of curiosity, hit the jump for a trailer.

I’d like to try this! ^_^

But a note, and I’m sorry to be the picky one, but isometric would be that sort of overheard diagonal view. The Warthog here is just overhead.

Still pretty cool that they would do this kind of thing. ^_^
