There are a lot of Pokémon out there in the regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos. Which is the biggest understatement ever uttered since the Apollo 13 space mission told Houston that they happened to have a problem. It’s gotten to a point now where capturing every single Pokémon in existence now means that you’re going to run out of storage space for the little critters in the game itself. Fortunately, that’s what Pokémon Bank is for, as it gives trainers some of that magical cloud stuff to help store their favourite captures. And if you’re a subscriber, you’ll be receiving some special Pokémon soon to add to your collection.
Nintendo has announced that Pokémon Bank subscribers will be getting super-duper versions of the Johto region starters. For those of you who don’t have their pokeballs tattooed, that’s Meganium, Typhlosion and Feraligatr. Or the walking pot-plant, the weird bear thing with a fire necklace and the blue crocodile that escaped the game reserve and is attempting to blend into normal society.
Each one of these critters will be level 50 and boast a hidden ability that you can’t normally find on them, even with the most stringent of forced breeding techniques. Meganium will have the Leaf Guard ability, Feraligatr will know Sheer Force and Typhlosion can power up with Flash Fire. To receive them, you’ll need to log into your Pokémon Bank account between February 27 and November 30, roughly the same period that you’ll need to be at home for when an ISP comes to install wireless at your residence.
If you’re looking for other starter Pokémon, there’s also some good news on the horizon. Emboar, Samurott and Serperior can be picked up via the Mystery Gift option in the main menu, by entering the codes POKEMON500, POKEMON503 and POKEMON497. You’ll have until November 30 to do so. That should help you catch ‘em all, something I’m keenly trying to accomplish right now.
