You think of a dragon, and you immediately conjure up an image of a majestic fire-breathing beast that wants to eat Matthew McConaughey while Batman watches. It’s just a natural pairing, born from years of fantasy, terrible anime and at least one instance of perfect voice-casting that required the services of a former 007 actor.

But in Pokémon? A combination of Fire and Dragon-type Pokémon are incredibly rare. You could count the number of Fire/Dragon-type Pokémon on one hand, provided said hand had been introduced to a woodchipper because only two such Pokémon exist: Legendary beast Reshiram from Pokémon Black/White and Charizard when it mega-evolves into Charizard X.

But in Pokémon Sun and Moon this year, there’ll at least be a third new Fire/Dragon-type in the form of Turtonator, which was revealed at GamesCom this year. Here’s the new Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer, along with an official description of the new beast:

Turtonator

  • CATEGORY – Blast Turtle Pokémon
  • TYPE – Fire/Dragon
  • HEIGHT – 6’07”
  • WEIGHT – 467.4 lbs.
  • ABILITY – Shell Armor

Because Turtonator lives on volcanoes, feeding on sulfur and other materials found near volcanic craters, its shell has a layer of explosive material—mostly sulfur. When something strikes this Pokémon, sparks fly from the horns on its shell, igniting an explosion!

In areas around volcanic craters, this Pokémon camouflages itself as a rock and waits for prey. At the moment when its prey steps onto the back of its shell, Turtonator strikes its shell with its own tail, triggering an explosion!

The explosive blasts triggered from Turtonator’s back are released through an orifice located on the middle front of the Pokémon’s body. This is Turtonator’s weak point. Attacks landing on its stomach will cause it a great deal of damage.

Shell Trap is a move that only Turtonator is able to learn. With this move, the Pokémon can set a trap at the beginning of the turn, and if Turtonator is hit by an opponent’s physical attack during that turn, Shell Trap triggers an explosion that will deal much greater damage to the opponent.

Turtonator is just one of many, many new Pokémon revealed so far for Pokémon Sun and Moon. Check out our Pokedex to see the rest of the new faces and a few of the generation one classics sporting an Alolan form. The big question here though, is if Turtonator has any prior evolutions to discover first, or any more still to come.

Remember, Dragon-type Pokémon require a LOT of work to train. Their base form is usually average, they take forever to evolve and there aren’t exactly a ton of them in the wild. But they’re usually worth it, even with the recent introduction of Fairy-Type Pokémon that helped balance their overwhelming power when Pokémon X and Y was launched.

Side note: I’m naming my Turtonator “Arnie” when I catch it.
