Portal: "Still Alive" First Details

Portal_by_McGibs.jpgThe first details of Portal “Still Alive” have surfaced after the very short and vague announcement given at E3.

First things first, if you were hoping for a sequel to the funny and fantastic puzzle game released by Valve as a part of the Orange Box, you are going to be a little disappointed. Chris Remo from GameSetWatch managed to have a bit of a chat with Valve’s Doug Lombardi and was able to get some details of what exactly it is that gamers can expect.

What we have discovered is that Portal “Still Alive” will be a stand alone version of the original Portal which will initially be released exclusively for Xbox Live. The game will feature all of the content from the original as well as extra puzzles that will be playable, although not part of the main story and will not feature any voiceovers from good ol’ GLaDOS.

These extra puzzles come from a Portal: The Flash Version MapPack which was designed to port the flash games levels to the original 3D version.

If you are a PC gamer, then there is some good news for you. According to GameSetWatch, you will be able to play the extra content first and free. GameSetWatch explains:

You may have seen Portal: The Flash Version, a clever Flash-based tribute to Valve’s game. You are slightly less likely to have seen the Portal: The Flash Version MapPack, which recursively ports the Flash game’s levels to Portal itself.

Still Alive’s bonus content consists of 360-certified versions of the levels from that pack. So if you’re a PC Portal owner who, like me, was feeling excluded by Still Alive’s bonus content, fear not: you get to play that content first, and for free.

now that i’m over my utter disappointment, i’m now not surprised. Valve are notorious for taking their own sweet time with getting it perfect.

Announcing a new game that’ll actually come out in the same year is just not their style.

    Still horribly disappointing!
