Premium GT5 Steering Wheel Outed

T500RS

Pretty soon, a product will be unleashed on the the retail market, that’ll make you question just how much of a HT5 fan you are. While the premium Logitech G27 wheel is currently the cream of the crop, there’s a new product on the way that’ll challenge its position.

And though I’ve always considered myself a bit of a Thrustmaster, this is the real deal – a fully featured, premium racing wheel from the fabled joystick purveyor that’ll have a suitably premium price tag. It’s even endorsed by Polyphony Digital head and incontrovertible racing nut, Kazunori Yamauchi. The Thrustmaster T500RS is so fancy it includes its price in its name. That’s right folks, it’ll set you back $500 for its entry-level configuration. Want a gated shifter? That’ll cost you extra, racing fan.

It does seem for some though, that it’ll be worth it. The list of features is an impressive collection of technical and racing jargon that escapes my grasp, but makes me want it anyway.

Main:
•Realistic steering wheel
•30cm in diameter with brushed metal radio stations.
•Authentic levers sequential gearbox polished metal.

Force Feedback:
•Accurate Technology HallEffect Technology HEART
•Ultra wheel, with resolution of 16 bits (65,536 values in the address)
•Industrial motor force feedback (150 mNm torque, 3000 rpm, 65 W, 52mm)
•Powerful Force Feedback rapid response t
•Plug motor drive
•Mechanisms with large double straps
•Adjustable angle of rotation up to 1080º (3 full turns)

Pedals:
•With 2 locations to choose from (mounted: F1 or suspended: GT)
•Metal pedals, high stability and resistance
•Weight 7 Kg approximately
•3 adjustable pedals both in space and height
•Brake pedal and adjustable enhanced resistance
•Textured metal footrest grid

Sounds awesome, even if it does cost more than the console you’ll be playing the game on.

As much as I love racing games, I don’t think my job pays me well enough to buy something for five times the cost of a cheaper one.

I should look into getting a good wheel. Are there any decent ones, that don’t cost a fortune, that work on both PS3 and 360?

The only one I’ve seen that works on both consoles is the Fanatec Porsche one…and guess what? It costs about $500. :/

    LOL!

What’s your level so far lans? How’s your progress with the special events and licences.

I’m struggeling a lot with the “Tour?” special event’s first race, where you have to take the Alfa C8 around Schwartz… or someshit, just can’t get gold, not even close….

    Level 21 at the moment.

@Syth im at level 29 spending most of my time in B spec mode at the moment im suprised how short A-spec mode is but i have not finished it im at the doing the european championship but i think im at the end!

For the Grand Tour just turn off traction control and abs, you can keep stability management, but im not sure if it lets you!

Im really enjoying the special events i liked the sebastien loeb challenges however i struggled to get gold in nascar for some reason, maybe i lost patience lol!!

im almost finished my s-license, and i still have to complete nascar and amg challenges im trying to unlock the X1 special event, level 30! 😀

The AI in expert series in Nascar or nurburgring is shockingly good! they will overtake you and take themselves aswell as you sometimes!

So far my favorite moment has been with the Mazda 787B Le mans type car that has about 868 BHP at Nurburgring!

I tried everything with that damn grand tour challenge. Golded the 1st four licences and most of the special events. Struggeling with the full Nordenschleife at the AMG driving school (for all tests) and that one C8 one.

Hopefully they’ll release more challenges and events over time.

    There are no dealer challenges?
