Project Cars

Project CARS has faced a couple of upsetting delays. Well, I suppose any delay is upsetting, but with a community this amped for release, they are particularly frustrating. At last the publishers have locked down a date, and it’s sooner than expected.

Here is the official announcement:

The game is also planned for Wii U, but no mention of a firm release date for that platform, though it’s scheduled to hit alongside the Steam Os version later this year.  Still, great for all the PS4, Xbox One and PC racing fans. You can embark on a legendary career with Project CARS in less than a month. Just a few more weeks of waiting. Here, have a ridiculously gorgeous trailer showing off career mode to tide you over:

Interestingly, Project CARS on console will also allow players to tweak their graphics. Normally, this is customization reserved for PC gamers, but Digital Foundry grabbed some screens of the options for Visual FX, Authenticity, Field of View and Movement. They haven’t had the chance to test how these might impact performance on the consoles, but it’s nice to see that functionality making its way to other platforms.

Are you counting down the days until the 8th of May? The game looks gorgeous and the community played a huge part in this game’s creation. If you’ve been a part of the process, you deserve a huge pat on the back. Driving fans around the world salute you.

Telkom can’t even fix my internet line, so it’s not surprise to me.
I really do like GT, always have. It’s a nice semi-sim, which Project CARS is also looking to be.

I believe they’ve used the same way of determining the release date as Eskom has been using for load shedding….

I was thinking more in the line of a drinking game though…. Something like, have a shot for predicting the release date, then take a shot for not delaying it and finally, take a shot for actually releasing it….

You must be a cheap date if it only takes 3 shots. 😛

I’m not much of a fan of racing games, though I will admit to having loads of fun with Forza (whichever one I have) on the odd ocasion I fire up my old XBox.

That said, I am extremely tempted to get this, just because of how damn beautiful it is. I probably won’t even race, just drive around the tracks admiring the scenery & the other cars.

This is the first game I’ve seen where you have to seriously blink and stare *hard* at the visuals to see if it’s the game or live footage. And you still get it wrong and point at the game and go “that’s real” at least half the time.

This game, along with Elite Dangerous, is going to be what sells people on VR, because something that looks this gorgeous on a 2d monitor is going to be all kinds of mindblowingly amazing on a good VR headset.

Cannot wait for the game to release! It looks amazing, it plays like a dream and I think it will blow all current racing games, sim or not, out of the water.

Yes I’m keen. Yes I’m excited. And yes I’ll be purchasing this day 1!

I love racing games (only the good ones – you go away, Need for Speed! Back in your corner!). Watching that trailer reminds me a lot of what it felt like when I was sitting on the starting grid when I used to race… There is no other feeling like it! To this day, I’m yet to experience anything that can even come close… But the trailers this game’s been releasing… They make me feel the spark again. And I gotta say – I’m loving it! Can’t wait to try it out in earnest (played some pre-launch / early release code a while back and it was epic!). Let’s crank this sucker up to 100!!

I cannot wait for this myself, I’ll also purchase it day one, my palms are getting sweaty just anticipating the seat behind the steering wheel… it is going to be glorious…As glorious as that first day behind that wheel, that smell of a warm track and the fumes of petrol everywhere…

It’s funny to me that at the end of the trailer it shows that the game is coming to all new consoles and Steam. Not PC but Steam. You don’t need a PC to play games anymore. You just need Steam. Fuck the PC.

Don’t Support DRM. The Witcher 3 is coming to PC.

Have a look into WDM before you start. This is largely a community based game. The only DRM is the DRM we want. Please leave my Project CARS alone.

I’ll believe it when I have a “Play” button in my Steam library for this game. As excited as I am, I do not believe any sentence that has “Project CARS” and “release date” in it.
