Project Cars is coming to retail

Project Cars is mainly known for being one of the most visually stunning titles gaming has ever seen. Up until now there was no indication that the title would ever reach store shelves, but a new deal has finally changed that.

Developers of Project Cars, Slightly Mad Studios, have partnered with Bandai Namco to bring Project Cars to retail. For a long while, it looked like we might have to actually download the game at the end of the year, but this new publishing deal changes that. Instead, you’ll be able to hop on over to your retailer of choice and pick the game up when it releases this November. Just like every other game. Imagine that.

Bandai Namco’s Chris Gilbert had some nice PR things to say about the impressive looking racing title.

"Combining the passion of an involved racing community with the talents of an extremely talented development team with pro-racing expertise creates an unprecedented collaborative effort to develop a true next-gen racing experience."

From what we’ve seen of the game so far, I’m inclined to agree with Gilbert. Project Cars looks absolutely gorgeous, with proof in the new gallery below. I just hope that’s not all it has going for it, and that the actual racing experience is something that puts up a fight with the likes of Forza and GRID.

If Slightly Mad Studios manage that, then we could have a new racing king this year. Project Cars releases on Xbox One, PS4, Wii U and PC this November.

  1. If it runs like silk at 1080p 60fps then FORZA will have a run for its money. Otherwise I expect a blurry frame rate if the screenshots look that good.

Well, since Codemasters messed up already with GRID2, I’m also really looking at this now for an alternative.
The Crew (which I know is in a different league) is looking really great. Too bad it’s going to use Uplay on pc.
So that pretty much leaves me with Project Cars only.

What about GRID Autosport? That looks like quite a decent game?

in terms of driving, its leaps and bounds ahead of GRID 2.
good racing sim, less fun though.

I never played GRID2 cause it didnt look that great to play. GRID Autosport looks decent and will give that a try, but now that you mentioned its less fun…. makes me wonder lol Fun is the key factor.

fun is just to differentiate between arcade racers and sims.
GRID autosport doesnt have much in the way of a story, need to actually drive properly, cant just drift every corner, you need to take the proper lines, use the regular brake instead of handbrake and you need to learn the tracks.

            the games a challenge.

The first GRID was brilliant. The second GRID was absolute crap. The online was riddled with people who don’t want to do anything but bump you off the road, and the AI in single player wasn’t much different.
If GRID 2 was a new NFS, fine, but it’s a Codemasters game, which makes it very disappointing.

I’m just a bit put off with Codemasters after the GRID 2 debacle. So I don’t want to fork out that amount of money for uncertainty. Rather wait for it to be on sale, or buy something else.

          It’s a shame that there’s no 60fps next-gen version out.

            its called a computer.
its a car game, so the hardware requirements are pretty awesome.
got an xbox controller for my PC, so when i switch it over to my TV, you wouldnt even know.

I heard. But I’m still skeptical after GRID 2.
I used to be a huge codemasters fan, so I will eventually get Autosport. But not now.

tbh, aside from some of the tracks and scenery, the games arent even comparable.
its like comparing Gran Turismo to Need For Speed.

The PS4 version was showcased at E3 and the graphics looked dull compared to Forza. Remember that this is the developers first outing on next-gen, so don’t expect it to touch GT and Forza until a few iterations.

Spectacular visuals. I also hope that the title plays as well as Forza or GT.

I believe that to this day a track racing sim that still stands head above the rest is the GTR series, it was done in such a fashion that they even implemented body roll into the vehicles, allowed you to race in proper 24 hour LeMans races and give you the ability to customise your vehicle to your hearts’ content, not the hey man pimp it up kind, but an almost perfect replica of what you’ll see in a pit stop garage… I believe everyone is still waiting on the 3rd in the series…

Hah! I believe they coin it as “arcade” race simulators… which makes me sad…
