PS3 Home Player Sexually Assaulted – In Home…

sexassault

This is one of those stories that I had full intentions of writing and mocking the person over.

Apparently a female Home ‘player’ has lodged a complaint on the official PlayStation forums about being sexually assaulted in Home. The only problem being that there is no sex or intimate contact in home so sexual assault is all on impossible.

In actual fact what the sex offender was doing was following around the female victim and crouching behind her… then she would move and he would do it again… seriously, this is not assault it’s stupidity at the highest level.

But instead of being able to sit back and mock this lady we now have to deal with yet another hysteria media article from the mass media.

This story was picked up by the Australian newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, and will now obviously used as exhibit A when the current ratings debate hits the media.

Granted she was being harassed and there should be a notification system in Home (isn’t there already?) but calling this sexual assault is just insane.

actually it is sexual assault. the law does not see the difference between physical and verbal assault. it’s getting close to the point where you even think about, you’ll be liable for prosecution… well not quite.

But there was no verbal assault either, they were just to close for comfort… that cannot be classed as sexual assault or assault of any kind can it?

verbal includes written material. there have been several successful cases brought against suspect emailers, and this is not that much more different.

there was a sexual harassment at my office a couple years ago, and we all had to get lawyer to explain to us what is acceptable and what is not. basically you can’t do anything that might be offensive, even if you think its acceptable.! ignorance does not exempt you in the slightest. its best to keep your thoughts to yourself at all times unfortunately.

In SA it does not constitute a sexual assault.

The Sexual Offences and related matters act, 32 of 2007 equates a sexual assault to a sexual violation. The definition of a sexual violation is DIRECT or INDIRECT specific contact between persons. Indirect contact does not include verbal comunication or written material.

Sexual harrasment is not neccesarily a sexual offence.

i was educated otherwise by a legal specialist, and to be honest, whether or not she was correct is irrelevant.
it’s best to conduct yourself in a proper manner at all times in public, and the internet is considered public, therefore applies.
not that i’m disputing what you said, i just prefer to err on the safe side.

At the same time, I hope that this stops these losers from being so damn annoying in things like Home.

Looking up a virtual girl’s skirt is virtual harassment and should be punished by a virtual jail sentence or virtual community service.
