That’s it, it’s all over. The latest* Japanese sales are in and the PS3 sales have fallen of a cliff with reports coming in of a 300% drop in sales in merely a week.
Unsurprisingly the Sony execs are holding emergency meetings as we speak to see if there is anyway to stop the PS3 from bringing down the entire company and the Japanese economy along with it.
Microsoft are said to be monitoring the devastation as it unfolds and have commented that they are worried that the collapse of the Japanese economy may impact on their home territory as well.
Nintendo have refused to comment on such irresponsible journalism and have claimed that this is nothing more than scaremongering.
Nintendo may have a point… the last weeks sales in Japan still have the PS3 comfortably ahead of the Wii and Xbox 360 but they have now fallen behind the DS.
DS – 78,282
PS3 – 55,601
PSP – 19,121
Wii – 16,114
360 - 7,171

55,000 is still decent sales though. I got my slim last week and i’m enjoying resistance 2 quite a lot. Pixel Junk Monsters is super addictive as well.
It seems like the price was not the only barrier keeping it from mass take-on. What else is there that’s holding it back?

I don’t mean to be that guy… but sales can’t ‘drop’ more than a 100%. If it does, nothing is sold. What you meant was sales dropped by over 60% .
I know what you meant (and it made for a great headline), but it kinda… well… breaks the rules of language.
