PS3 suffers Half-Life 2

Yet another PS3 game delayed…

According to a report on IGN, the PS3 version of Half-Life 2: Orange Box will release “a few weeks later” than Orange box for PC and Xbox 360, both of which are due out on these (American) shores on October 12.

So any guesses on how long a few weeks is? What is even scarier is that the PS3 version is not being created by Valve it is actually being developed by EA Games, you know that company that says the 360 is their main developing platform…

Not good…

Well in fairness, they do have a lot more experience at it than Valve.

. . . And the more practise they get the more likely they are to improve 😉

I remeber a couple of months back that the some Valve bigshot said that the PS3 is a piece of junk and Sony should just admit they made a whole lot of mistakes and just scrape the console. Strange that Valve would release HL2 on the PS3 as well after they said that. Maybe this explains why EA is developing the PS3 port on this.

Am I wrong in saying that this isnt exactly a port? Sure it might be coming a few weeks later than originally intended, but it is being developed duely and not being ported from an existing game. In fact the delay might even result in a superior game??

If they took, say a year, like they did with oblivion then they could do something like that. But if it’s just a few weeks I’m afraid not. Even games like rainbow 6 and GRAW, which had at least 3-6 months between versions are just ports. for HL:OB, both console versions are technically ports of the PC version so it’s much of a muchness.

Well at least this wont delay the game for the other platforms unlike GTA IV.
