PS4 confirmed for an EU release this year (and us?)

At the PlayStation 4 announcement event back in February they revealed that the PlayStation 4 is planned to be released this holiday season. However they didn’t specify into which regions and whether we can expect a worldwide release.

Well now according to a tweet from the Official European PlayStation account we can expect the PS4 to at least hit Europe this year.

This is great news for us in South Africa as we usually receive releases around the same time as Europe. Obviously it is going to depend on how quickly Sony are able to manufacture the devices but with rAge being held just 2 months before the expected release do you think we may be able to get our first hands on at the massive event?

I actually think it’s very likely, Sony are in the driving seat right now and they must realise that being first to market, without DRM, will all but secure the next generation.

That is unless Microsoft realise the error of their ways and sort out their plans.

    Players Play Players lol PLAYstation

Looks like they are not going to repeat that bullshit from 2007 when they plugged the PS3 as a Blu-Ray DVD player first that happens to play games and make you work 2 jobs to afford it.

It is now Microsoft who have the memory of a goldfish to push the same FAIL as what SONY did 6 years ago.

THAT FIRST INSTALL BASE IS FCKING IMPORTANT. I jumped to the 360 as did many because they had an SKU that was 3x cheaper than the PS3 that was still 1 years behind. It took sony the entire gen to play catch up.

SONY need to jump and JUMP now while Microsoft try to convince the TV Centric CEO who come from TV that this shit is going to FAIL!!!!! FAIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Come on SONY!!! It is your move.

Kaz will have to have a corn flakes for a brain if he implements any form of DRM, clearly they can see the backlash that came from MS implementation …. Let’s hope sony wins!

I think the decision would be out of his hands. If they have already made agreements with their publishers to block used games, they will be held accountable. With used games blocking, comes DRM in some form or other.

Kaz seems like a nice bloke though, don’t be mean to him.

Nothing stops Sony from tacking on DRM later on. Come on E3!

This is Sony’s time to really pull ahead with a great starting base if they go anti-DRM

Considering it may release as early as October it may very well make an appearance at Rage.
