You can hate it all you want, but Fifty Shades of Grey is infecting cinemas country-wide from tonight, and looks like it’s set to break all sorts of records globally. The popularity of the film has not only led to a rise in awareness of BDSM relationships, but unsurprisingly an increase in BDSM searches on…far less romantic websites. But which console crowd uses their hardware of choice to search for the other shades of grey that the film doesn’t dare touch?
In what has to be one of the weirdest surveys I’ve ever read, it seems that PS4 users search for more BDSM related content on their console than the average Xbox One users. The study conducted by SugerDVD (which is utterly NSFW) shows that PS4 users search for BDSM related content at least 1.8 times more than Xbox users. The study also suggests that it is couples searching for it together – although I really don’t think I need to know how they came to that conclusion.
Another interesting finding from the survey is that PS4 users are far more likely to be female than Xbox users. I again have no idea how that was determined, but it does make sense in the context of sales. The PS4 has outsold the Xbox One quite drastically, so it would seem logical that the chances of a player being female is higher on Sony’s front. As it would be if you were looking at the male spectrum as well.
It’s good for a bit of a laugh if not anything else. The thought of visiting any pornographic hubs from the comfort of my living room and on my Xbox has honestly never crossed my mind. But hey, not everyone has their PC close at hand I guess. Is it something you’ve ever done? I’m sure we can all be honest here.
