PSN heading for some downtime

Chances are that if you’re playing anything online this week, it’s Evolve. The asymmetrical multiplayer shooter released today on console and PC, and it’s best played with other human beings online. If you’re playing on PS4, you might a have few issues with PSN on Thursday.

PSN will be down for maintenance this Thursday for a good three hours, as long as everything goes according to plan. It’ll be down from 17:00 to 20:30 GMT, although only a few services will be down during this time.

Sony says that PS4 and PS3 users will still be able to play titles online, although some services “may be limited”. You will not, however, be able to make purchases via the store or log into your account. So make sure the console you want to use during the downtime has recently been online, and is set as your primary device.

All things considered, it’s not too terrible, although Sony has warned that the service could experience further outages for testing purpose following the maintenance. That may or may not affect online gaming, so just keep that in mind on Thursday evening.

Keep an eye on the PlayStation website for more updates throughout the scheduled downtime. Hopefully everything goes smoothly, and your monster hunting isn’t interrupted. Only thing scarier than the Goliath is a mob of angry offline gamer, no?

If you’re lucky that’ll be smack-bang in the middle of your load shedding.

Nobody will be “smack-banging” in the middle of their load shedding. Unless you mean the other load shedding. Then that’s half the point.
