Random rant about Battlefield 3 song choice

Battlefield3Town

Maybe I’m getting old or maybe it’s because I am dying from manflu today but this latest trailer annoyed the living daylights out of me.

Which is an odd experience since the gameplay shown is absolutely amazing and it really should have made me post up a story saying how awesome it’s looking and how I’m planning on selling my kids to ensure I get a copy on launch day.

But instead I’m sitting here irritated by the song choice as it’s surely offensive.

The backing track to the trailer is Jay-Z’s 99 problems. If you haven’t heard of it before then let me just post up the main line that repeats over and over and over

“I’ve got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one”

How was this song deemed acceptable by the marketing people at EA who are trying to place Battlefield 3 as the mass market shooting simulator of 2011. Do they not have a single female on the marketing team with an ounce of self respect?

Battlefield3Town

Am I completely alone here? Is it now acceptable to simply demean women who you’re having an issue with?

Hey maybe they are targeting the right market after all, the prepubescent teen who has no social ability and that the women purposefully avoid?
