Rayman Legends goes next-gen, gets bizarre trailer

Funny. Rayman Legends started its life as a Wii U exclusive, but soon found its way to every other capable gaming system. That’s a good thing, because it’s a beautiful, majestic game that more people should play. And now, more people will. Ubisoft’s announced that it’ll be getting a next-gen upgrade.

Yes, one of the most gorgeous games of the current gen is getting a beefier port on the new systems. I don’t really get it though; it ran at 1080p at 60fps on everything else already, and I honestly don’t see how they could make the game look any better, beyond throwing in superfluous lighting and effects. It does, however, have severely decreased loading times.

Each platform will be getting specific enhancements though. the Xbox one version will get 10 exclusive challenges to unlock new time-limited Achievements, and the PlayStation 4 version will end up closest to the Wii U version, by allowing the use of the controller’s touchpad scratching Lucky Tickets and hopefully, controlling Murphy. you’ll also be able to use remote play with the Vita, along with cross-play – so you can continue your platforming adventures on the go. That’s pretty damned neat.

You’ll also be able to use the system’s inherent sharing features to share screenshots and videos of your accomplishments – of which there will be many, because the game is pretty balls hard, and rewarding as a result. Sounds like the PS4 version’s the one to have, to be honest.

And then there’s the trailer for the thing, which bizarrely includes Snoop Dogg Lion. The game is out on new-gen systems on February 28 next year…a day before my birthday. Hint hint.
