With recent games all following the same type of control system, the resident evil system was always going to feel odd and out of place, not anymore. After Jun Takeuchi’s comments at E3 this was somewhat expected, he implied the change by stating, “So don’t be surprised if at the Tokyo Game Show, the controls are different… I’m not confirming or denying anything, but we like to surprise people.”
It was after the Microsoft Media briefing that Takeuchi confirmed the new controls would be on the TGS showroom floor and that they would be more “Gears-like”
This could be a huge turning point in the way Resident Evil is played from here on out. The old style could be thrown out the window being replaced with a new run-and-gun style of play which may make the die hard fans of the series unhappy but is probably better for the game as a whole.

I’m happy. RE4’s controls is pretty much obsolete. I just don’t hope the game’s pace increases too much. It’s should be a slow paced experience imo.

The last Re I played was RE2 and I will prefer the Gears style of play.

You really need to be able to dive backwards cos I know I did it for RE4 and I saw em doing it on the RE5 demo, what you tend to do is see enemy, turn around, run a bit, turn around (i.e. giving you some space) and shoot the crap out of the slow moving targets as they lurch towards you.
