Red Dead Redemption DLC bundle disc incoming

This is somewhat curious: Rockstar has announced a bundle disc that will sell at retail containing all of the DLC for Red Dead Redemption. The release is similar to the Episodes From Liberty City release in that it won’t require a copy of Red Dead Redemption to play.

Named after the upcoming Undead Nightmare DLC (which hits 26 October!), the Undead Nightmare bundle disc will include: Liars and Cheats, Undead Nightmare, Outlaws to the End, Legends and Killers, and all of the additional Free Roam multiplayer elements.

What makes this a little strange is that what this essentially is, is a release of just the multiplayer aspect of Red Dead Redemption. Sure, Undead Nightmare contains a single-player story as well, but most of the DLC is for multiplayer. I guess that this is then aimed at those who wanted to try the multiplayer but never got around to buying Red Dead Redemption the first time around. Perhaps Rockstar is hoping that the smaller, single-player element of Undead Nightmare will be enough to goad players into dropping cash on the full RDR game.

Alternatively, the release is for those who never bothered with the DLC or who were unable to download it. That, however, seems daft because how would somebody who was unable to download content in the first place, be able to use multiplayer-only content purchased at retail? I’m really confused. Unless I’m missing something here?
