Red Dead Redemption on PC? Not likely says Rockstar

Rockstar Games is one of the few companies around that can pump out consecutive hits of well performing games that resonate well with both players and critics alike. Having become far more focused in recent years on the console market, PC ports of their popular titles always take a backseat, being released several months down the line.

We’ve seen the Grand Theft Auto series released on the eager PC market, with LA Noire and Max Payne 3 also scheduled for a debut on that platform soon. One massive hit tile that we won’t see anytime soon however, is the epic western tale of Red Dead Redemption.

“We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans, that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we’re well aware that some fans have been asking for it”, said a spokesperson on the Rockstar Blog.

“All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform), we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100 percent of the time for all platforms”.

Red Dead Redemption was a smash hit when it launched last year, and went onto win several awards for the 2010 gaming season, as well as releasing several well received DLC packs, including the rather creepy “Undead Nightmare”, which brought zombies to the old west.

Its a shame that PC players won’t get their hands on it, as RDR must be one of the finest sandbox games ever made, as it combined a ripping yarn with great action and superb visuals.
