Red Dead Redemption sequel this year?

RDR

PC gamers wouldn’t know, but Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption is one of the very best games to have been released in the last generation. Taking the Grand theft Auto template to the wild west, it worked better for me than GTA itself, as it serves as a sort of historical escapism. I live in a big city, and am free to be a jerk as much as I like. I’ve never been a cowboy though, and Red Dead Redemption allowed me to do that perfectly. We could hear more about its sequel this year.

Baird Equity Research believes that Rockstar’s gearing up to announce a sequel to the game very few people know was a spiritual successor itself. they said as much in their predictions for gaming in 2014.

“Take Two continues to produce some of the highest-quality console and PC games, which we believe should transition well on next-gen platforms,” said analyst Colin Sebastian in the 2014 Video Game Industry Predictions and Q4 Results Preview (via VG247)

“We expect product announcements over the next year such as extending GTA V to other platforms (e.g., PC, next-gen consoles), the next Red Dead, etc., to help improve revenue and earnings visibility. In addition, the company has significant potential to grow digital/online revenues, which should help improve gross margins and add visibility to growth.”

On the subject of the open secret of the inevitable fact that GTA V is coming to PC?

“We expect PC version of GTA V in 2014. Recently, Amazon.com posted a product listing for a PC-version of the company’s blockbuster franchise Grand Theft Auto V (GTA). While a PC version would not be a big surprise, this indirect confirmation of the game helps to provide some added visibility to consensus F2015 (Mar) estimates.

“In fact, we have previously published that GTA-extensions are in the development pipeline, and likely needed for the company to hit FY targets. We also believe the next Red Dead game is in the works potentially for a 2014 launch.”

I would absolutely be all over a new, next-gen Red Dead Redemption.Marston’s story spanned the whole cowboy era though, so it would likely focus on a new protagonist, which I’d be far more up for than the younger, whiny-voiced Marston. I’d love to see Rockstar’s Rage Engine flex its muscles  on more capable hardware; on the Xbox 360 and Ps3 it’s already a marvel, and if it’s scalable, could make for some incredibly pretty new gen games.

Kinect: A device that help youngsters to become confident in front of a camera, with a possible future career of being a pornstar 🙂

Agreed. I don’t have a real reason to switch to next gen yet but if RDR2 came out I would buy it and an Xbox One or PS4 in a heartbeat. RDR was my first xbox game and I spent so many hours on that game. It’s a beautiful story line and it had an awesome multiplayer which consumed most of my time. I hope the next one will be just as good as RDR. Only time will tell.

Would love to see how it looks on the PS4. On the PS3 it was absolutely stunning.

I’ve played it a little, just an hour about a year ago. I managed to save a dude by shooting a noose that was around his neck 🙂 Got an achievement for that!

If we know Rockstar, they take a good few years to develop a game PROPERLY.

    GTAV – Five Years
RDR – Five years (correct me if I am wrong)

So if RDR came out it 2010, a 2015 release seems a good estimate.. Ceteris paribus

Different teams within the same company, so a smaller window between titles is very possible. 🙂

So, is 360/PS3 gen dead now? I thought that there’d still be titles released for it.

“..Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption is one of the very best games to have been released in the last generation.”

should be “..one of the very best games to have been released ever.”

    There I fixed it
