Red Faction: Armageddon Delayed, THQ Dates New Saints Row

Red Faction: Armageddon, the anticipated sequel to Guerilla, a game which many people enjoyed but I didn’t, has been delayed from March 2011 to May 2011. THQ has offered no reason for this, but one can hope its for an extra coat of polish. If you are confused as to why Armageddon being delayed is a big deal, then check the New York Stock Exchange. THQ’s share price fell 6% after the delay was announced.

New to the fray is a new installment in THQ’s long-running MX vs. ATV franchise. The new one is called MX vs ATV Alive, and is slated for a Spring 2011 release stateside.

Check after the jump for other titles in THQ’s very strong fiscal 2012 release calender.

Summer 2011: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine.
Fall 2011: Saint’s Row 3; New WWE game.
Winter 2012: New UFC game.
Unscheduled/Previously unannounced: The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout [Kinect], UFC Fitness Trainer (working title) [Kinect and Move], Saint’s Row 3 [3DS], de Blob 2: The Underground [3DS].

It appears we have quite a bit to look forward to.

THQ has gone from the new kid with the seemingly fresh ideas to that old guy who scratches himself in public (Assious). Do we really need another WWE game? This series has quickly replaced Madden in its dullness. WWE Smackdown 1 and 2 on the PSone were awesome, so too was WWE Day of Reckoning on the Gamecube and I’ll admit last year’s WWE SvR wasn’t that bad, but it’s not a game I would actually have bought (had it not been given to my as a present). Gee thanks Grandma… a wrestling game? Really?

While we’re on the subject who still watches that crap? I caught an episode of Raw the other night, and it sucked ass… (and not the good kind either).

    No More THQ! No MORE!

As much as Saints Row 2 rocked my socks, I’m apprehensive about 3. So what’s next? The Saints battling Corporation created zombies? I already took over the city THQ… sheesh!

Well, Space Marine is a new franchise, even though it isn’t a new IP, which is something.

Also, consider the WWE games as funding for the more interesting titles THQ bring out, like Metro 2033.

I’m really excited for Saint’s Row 3. Enjoyed the hell outta the second one.

I’m sure the WWE games are netting them a nice profit every year, because they’ve been using the same character animation and move sets since the PS2 days, and each year they merely spruce up the character models or at most, merely update the costumes.

It kind of makes me glad that UFC2010 tanked so badly.

My final words on this: THQ is riding the fail train
