Reggie Fils-Aime, President (Nintendo America), has been speaking to IGN about the future and how Sony and Microsoft are entering the motion controlled space.
However he isn’t worried, in fact he thinks that they should be worried instead.
“I don’t worry about what they’re going to do. We’re going to continue to innovate.â€
He then goes on to say
“All of our competitors need to be worried about what we’re going to do.â€
And you know I do agree with him, the Wii may be everyone’s favourite console to mock but they arrived in this generation with everyone laughing at them and still managed to outsell every competitor without even breaking a sweat, or dropping a price.
According to the rumours the Wii could sell for 1/6th of it’s current price and still make Nintendo a profit. How many people could avoid picking up a Wii for R350-R500?
They have the money and market position to continue to dominate, the only question now is whether they really will innovate or rather just continue to build the bank balance and prepare for the Wii2 in 2012.
