Remedy, the guys behind the first Max Payne games and Alan Wake are known for producing story-driven games.

They’ve found the impetus to continue to deliver games with good narrative progressions – and you’ve got Skyrim to thank for that.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Remedy’s Oskari Hakkinen said that the incredible success of Skyrim, a single player game, means that the company will be more driven to keep creating story-drive experiences – and won;t buckled under the pressure to create yet another first-person combat shooter.

“The Call of Dutys and the Battlefields are doing extremely well in the US,” Hakkinen told Eurogamer. “Those are the type of games that are in popular demand, so it’s really positive to see Skyrim and other RPG games that have a lot of story in be successful as well.

“It gives us motivation to do story-driven games, because there’s obviously an audience out there of people who enjoy story as well.

“Seeing something like that being successful,” he continued “we don’t need to consciously try to make our stories any less than they are, not try to make them any simpler. Our stories are not necessarily complicated, but our games are very story heavy. And, just to see games like Skyrim succeed, it’s like, let’s not try to make it any less story-heavy.”

Inspired buy Skyrim’s success? That’s ok – just don’t be inspired by game-breaking bugs, ok? Remedy’s most recent release is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare on Xbox Live Okay. It’s pretty good, and a steal for 1200 MSP.
