Resident Evil 7 rumoured for E3 again

It’s getting closer and closer to E3 each day, and it’s about time some wild, left-field rumours started crawling out the cracks in anticipation for the massive show. One rumour that is everything but left-field is anything to do with resident Evil. Resident Evil 7, in fact, has been teased many times for an E3 reveal in the past, with the most famous being all the way back in 2013. So it’s with a little caution that we look at another one now, although the circumstance do change things slightly.

First of all, all the new information leaked is coming from a credible source. Serkan Toto, a Tokyo-based analyst and CEO of consultancy firm Kantan Game, revealed several new titbits about the supposedly in-development sequel via Twitter yesterday, ending off by stating that Resident Evil 7 will be revealed a E3 in a couple of weeks. Toto has a good track record and his leaks were reserved enough to suggest something is happening, but it would be a surprise for Capcom to make the announcement out of nowhere in a few weeks.

One of the more tantalising bits of the leak surrounded on of its producers, with Jordan Amaro reportedly on-board with the project. Formerly with Kojima Productions, Amaro worked on metal Gear Solid V and P.T – the incredibly well designed teaser for what should’ve been a new dawn for Silent Hill. With Toto claiming that Resident Evil 7 is a reboot of sorts to take the series deep into horror roots, this would fit nicely with Amaro’s repertoire.

Right now I can feel your excitement, but there are some rules you need to follow before getting too ahead of yourself, especially with Resident Evil. Back in 2013 this same game was teased with a fake logo, and since then has always had slight murmurings around the trade-show. Although Capcom have recently signalled their intent to make Resident Evil great again, they’re still launching a tactical shooter within the franchise soon. Which is the furthest thing from what fans want, but could pave the way for an even more sought after reboot.

There’s also word from a source close to Capcom saying that Resident Evil 7 won’t be shown at E3 this year.

We’ll only know for sure in a few weeks, and I do hope that a lot of this is true. resident Evil 6 was painful to play, and fans of this franchise deserve something classic to look forward to. Ball is in your court Capcom.

Capcom: We have zombies and mutated humanoids!
Most of us: Noooo really, ya don’t say…

I think the Resident Evil gaming franchise has reached its peak when 3 released. Everything afterwards was just mediocre and not scary anymore.

Capcom’s been trying to make money by appealing FPS players with “Call of Evil”, RE6 was the 1st RE i never finished, it was painful playing it, feels like a bored and no brainer game.
