Ride

I’m a motorcycle kind of guy. I love the idea of numbing my butt over a long ride, the thrill of a fast jaunt through a thunder-storm and the bastard thrill of splitting a lane to get past some traffic which inevitably results in some chap in a VW Golf that has go-faster stripes on the side going into heat and then showing his virility by revving his engine incessantly. Unfortunately, my choice of motorcycle is limited to two at the moment, so I’ll have to make do with some digital bikes instead. Fortunately, Ride will have plenty to choose from.

Whether they’re carbon copies of one another in the game though, remains to be seen. There’ll be 113 bikes to choose from in Ride, split across the following 14 manufacturers:

  • Aprilia
  • Bimota
  • BMW
  • Ducati
  • Energica
  • Eric Buell Racing
  • Honda
  • Kawasaki
  • Yamaha
  • KTM Lightning
  • MV Agusta
  • Yamaha
  • Suzuki
  • Triumph

I’m a Yamaha man personally, but I guess I could settle for a few practice laps on a Triumph or a Honda. The majority of the bikes will be contemporary models, with a few classics such as the Honda VR750R RC30, the Bimota Tesi 1D and the Suzuki GSX-R 750 SRAD from 1998. All solid bikes, especially if you’re into crotch rockets.

According to Veni Vidi Vici, the game will have 31 tracks over 15 locations. Such locations include:

  • National Park of Stelvio – Italy
  • Sierra Nevada – USA
  • North Wales – UK
  • Kanto Temples – Japan
  • French Riviera – France
  • Salt Flats Speedway – USA
  • Milano – Italy
  • Miami – USA
  • Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari Imola – Italy
  • Sportsland SUGO – Japan
  • Donington Park Circuit – UK
  • Road America – USA
  • Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours – France
  • Circuito de Almeria – Spain
  • Potrero de los Funes Circuit

Sounds like plenty of content. The game is being developed by Milestone, so I’m remaining cautious about this release, after having played several of their MotoGP games in the past. As well as several of their WRC games which featured close to zero tweaks every single year. Still, when it comes to motorcycle games, I’d love to be proven wrong. Ride is out later this month on PC, Xbox and PlayStation platforms.

Placing this on the radar to check out – please make sure you guys do a LAGZ review. It’s been a very long time since a good motorcycle racer. Sort-of-related, it’s also been too long time since a good, old-school RTS like C&C, Warcraft or SC. Oh, how I miss trying so hard to survive the initial rush, only to get destroyed after 30 minutes by a vastly superior army. After we have had enough masochism passed around, we used to call for the 1-hour “no attack” rule at LANs. So awesome to watch 4 people’s massive top-tier armies fight it out.

I’ll be hitting the Ride review, since motorcycle games are on my beat. So keep an eye out for that one later this month!

As a track day junkie and sportbike enthusiast I’ve been looking for something like this! 🙂 I’m curious to compare the game to the real thing in terms of handling etc, and engine sound. I’ll be impressed if they can nail the unique soundtrack of my track bike. 🙂

I doubt it will be that realistic, most bike games when you play on pro, you can still stick the bike into the corner gripping as much front brake as you please. which on track would be your last mistake.

Yeah, that will probably be the case… Still gonna have a go. If they can get the power delivery / gearing / sound right it will still be fun I think.

I’ve got a MV Agusta F3 675. I don’t use it on the road much, mirrors / indicators etc removed 99% of the time and I’m on track tires. My previous bike was the naked Honda CB1000R, which was also fantastic on track, but I started scraping peg / exhaust all the time lol.

Nice I had a CBR1000RR, Honda’s are such awesome handling bikes. I ride a GSXR1000K6 on track. Then the KX450 for exercise on the dirt.

I miss the smoothness and ease of use of the Honda, but nothing pulls the heart strings like an Italian!

Not an offroad guy myself, but looking at the big KTM Adventure bikes as a road and possibly touring bike. My Wife’s got the Duke 390, and I’m very impressed with it.

Personal every bike game I’ve played has been a disappointment. Really hope this one changes it. For now I’ll just take my SV1000s to the track:)

I won’t even hold me breath for this. The last “good” bike game was on PS2 and that was Tourist Trophy. Looking at these graphics, doesn’t bode well. Ill check out the review before spending my cash. Nearly was dupped into buying Motorcycle Club. What a load of Shit.

I’m keen, if they can pull it off. I quite enjoyed MotoGP14, actually – but it was my first ever MotoGP game (just decided I needed a racing game on my PS4 and it, literally, was the only 1 at the time), so I can’t comment on the yearly ‘tweaks’.

Still – quite keen to try this out… Sounds cool!

Hmmmm Milestone though. They love to take a licensed product and then make a game that looks 4 yours outdated.
