Riot reveal the River King – a new champion for League of Legends

If you thought E3 was the only place teasers got dropped this week, you’d be wrong! Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends, have just released their own mysterious video. It teases a brand new champion. All that is known about him at this stage is that he rules the river, has one insatiable hunger, and one heck of Cajun accent.

Oh, did I mention that this new champion, the ‘River King’, is giant fish…thing, and also a complete dick? He makes false deals with people, eats them, and snaps their bones and crushes their limbs in the process. Not cool bro!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I can make you a fine bargain… but you gotta be willing to pay the price.

What a mysterious teaser indeed. All I’m able to infer myself really, is that based on his size, the River King must fulfill the tank role. I’m also going to go ahead and assume that he has some sort of ability that makes him a lot stronger in the river, or interacts with it in some way. If not, well, that’d just be silly.

I myself don’t know League of Legends lore well enough to offer my own informed comment on where the River King fits into the overall game story. I did find this thread rather interesting however. Some believe that the gambler is the champion, Twisted Fate, and that the wedding mentioned is his marriage to Evelynn. There’s also speculation on whether the island mentioned is that of the Shadow Isles – before its destruction.

Whether any of this is true or not remains to be seen. I have no doubt that Riot will put people out of their misery all in good time. For all we know, the new champion could drop as early as next week. He looks terrifying!

but you couldnt ofcourse, because you have to remain “impartial”
even though you have 3000 more hours logged on dota than LoL.
i think you should pull a gavin and drop truth bombs in every article.
