Robert Nay just made a top downloaded game on the App Store

Who is Robert Nay? He’s a 14 year-old boy who lives in USA. He’s also just programmed his first game, which toppled Angry Birds from the No. 1 spot on the App Store’s free app chart. His game is a physics-based puzzler called Bubble Ball.

The game has been downloaded more than two million times since he put it onto the App Store on 29 December 2010. That was three weeks ago, which means a 14-year-old has made a game by himself that has been downloaded just less than a hundred thousand times a day since launch.

Robert Nay comes across as very shy and somewhat oblivious as to what this all means; there’s a very brief interview with him over on KSL.com. He’s planning on releasing paid-for content for his game, the money from which he wants to save so that he can go to university. Something tells me he shouldn’t have too much difficulty procuring a scholarship though.

In typical game developer fashion, Robert is not stopping with this game as he’s already planning his next iOS release. He’s also already been given offers to become a consultant for other developers. You can check out his website if you want to learn more about Bubble Ball or make yourself feel completely inadequate.
