Rockband Local Release – Latest News

When is it coming and how much is it going to cost? These are the two things we all really want to know.

Well I put these questions to EA Games South Africa last week and they were thankfully very honest with their answers.

Firstly they want Rock Band here now, if they could it would be. However it is getting sold out in the US and obviously their size of market is more appealing to EA and the shareholders so they are going to keep getting more stock until the levels are adequate. Which means we should, and are hoping, to get Rock Band in June only. Sad I know but these things take a long time to ship over here and the rest of the world is also clamouring for them.

As for price.

Remember these are just guesses for now but currently the standalone game is going to be R599 as all AAA titles seem to be.

The party in the box, which includes all the instruments, will hopefully be coming in at R1299 which means we will be able to “start a band baby” for under R2000. That’s a lot of money to me but with all the instruments and if your two mates also want to play it becomes more affordable.

The Rockband guitar also sounds awesome and I will hopefully get around to writing about that soon enough…

If you have any questions you want answered by EA please leave a comment and I will do my best…..

R1299 for the game + 3 instruments/controllers. That’s actually not bad, approx the price of two games. I was expecting it to hit us for R1800.

Good news if this is true.

Um yeah I just re-read that and it wasn’t very clear… the box only contains the instruments for R1200 + the game for R599 = R1800… what you originally estimated…

I was prepared to hand over anything up to R2500. So I’m not too bothered about the price.
