If you’ve played just about any JRPG – or in fact any RPG – you may realise just how much RPG heroes are complete bastards. Apart from eventually saving the world from inevitable destruction, they’re rude, inconsiderate jackasses who’ll just barge in uninvited to the homes of the very people they’re out to protect.
The protagonist causes just as much strife as he does good – and this is something Richard Garriot realised when he created Ultima, and it’s filtered through to games like Fallout 3 and Fable. confused about what I’m talking about?
