rugby2012

Hey Rugby fans – your 4 year wait is nearly over. HB Studios has confirmed that it’s developing what’ll be the very first rugby game to hit current HD systems. It’ll be the first Rugby game available since 2007’s release of Rugby 08.

HB Studios – responsible for a host of EA sports games over the last decade – are developing the title to be published by EA under the EA Sports banner next year. Details are scant at the moment – but at least punters can be safe in the knowledge that a videogame version of their favourite sport is on the way to the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I think a celebratory drink is in order.

As posted on the Rugby Forum, the game’s internet partner :

The Rugby Forum is delighted to announce in a world exclusive, along with our new partners HB Studios, that their brand new Rugby 2012 is official and is coming to the current generation of consoles in summer 2011.

After a wait since Rugby 2008 I am sure that the rugby gaming community will be celebrating this news massively and we are all working in the same direction – to make the best rugby game possible.

Details will be coming thick and fast in the coming weeks, and HB Studios want to keep you all in touch via a series of developmental blogs and podcasts, which will be commencing later in the development of the game.

For now, all you need to know is that the game IS happening and that TRF IS the best place to hear the latest news and talk about the latest views as we enter a new era with our friends at HB Studios right alongside us.

Be sure to keep an eye on the game’s currently threadbare official site for further developments.

Thanks to TrokZA for the tip

Please let it be graphically on par (or even better) with the Madden and Fifa games, and truly capture the look and feel of the “one and true” beautiful game.

I honestly think I would enjoy the game if they added a be-the-ref mode. I still don’t get Rugby, I have tried, so very hard.

if you knew half a thing about the date of 2012 in which the mayan calander ends then you would know its not right when we reach 2012.. its actually pretty much the end of 2012 near the beginning of 2013 sooo even if rugby were yhite then the game would still be out + it comes out in 2011 for 2012.. so to sum it all up – you’re a spastic 🙂

*sings* “Black White, all right, comon the bay!”…oh you mean the All Blacks…my bad 😛 but i’ve always hoped that they would add more to the game like: more tournaments from around the world like th french, Japanese, irish/wales/scottish league, South African and New Zealand club/provincal championships as i think it would atract more sales in the different countries that have their local tournaments in the game!

Better/Smoother Graphics would be a bonus , but the part that needs the most attention is player agility and the control of Forwards at ‘rucks’ . Players have been pretty much robotic when it came to that. Player skills can be improved ie side step , hand offs etc Nevertheless , cant wait !
